Who Is Calling?

Caller ID is convenient, isn’t it? We know who is calling before we answer the phone.

Sort of.

On my caller ID right now I have calls whose ID shows up as New York, Florida, Washington D.C., out of area, State of Texas GSC (General Services Commission, an agency that no longer exists), and wireless caller.

That’s not really helpful. Somehow I don’t think that the whole state of New York is calling me. The same goes for Florida and Washington D.C.

Unless…unless these states have party lines, like in the olden days. Maybe the state of New York has only one phone line and it’s a party line and someone is calling me and everyone else in the state has picked up to listen in.

Sure, that’s it.
