Here are my two versions of Mystery Block 3, for the block-of-the-month program at B&B Quilting & Gifts in Buda. Mystery blocks 1 and 2 were different sizes: different from each other, different from the expected outcome. Maybe the third time’s the charm? I’ve decided to be an optimist for the third set and not even measure them until it comes time to put the quilt top together.

It took me three quarters of the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars football game to sew the batik version. I kept sewing the half-square triangles to the solid squares in the wrong direction. For the civil war reproduction version, I had just congratulated myself for not doing that only to get up to press it and notice that I had sewn the second row upside down. Back to the seam ripper. Sigh.
